Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light

Talking about god taking the burden on him through prayer. It is easy for me to think that god is so powerful and can take on the weight of the world, of course it is easy for me to believe that god made the earth hanging on nothing too......If people spent more time trying to get to the truth and realize that someone who had to be very intelligent created all mankind and is soo powerful he gives you a life as a breeze and you are gone, yet he can breath the life into a peson who was dead for three days or how about the majority of mankind who will be brought back after dead for a century or more. Knowledge on your part is Power

What's difficult to believe? That someone could lighten your burden? I think your mind is completely closed to even the literal meaning (hand your burden to me while you take some rest), let alone the metaphorical meaning (where the burden is less tangible and is more the weights of the world).

What does this have to do with politics?
Besides, I like this translation better:

25-26Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer: "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth. You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people. Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

27Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly. "The Father has given me all these things to do and say. This is a unique Father-Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge. No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does. But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen.

28-30"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."

Jesus was speaking of a relationship with Him, rather than the traditional Jewish laws. Comparitively, they are easy.
Yes, I do believe it. Why don't you? Perhaps this is why:
1 Corinthians 1:18
18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

look at it figuratively, not literally.

basically, it means that when you are fed up and stressed out, come to God and your mind will be put at ease, for His way is the right way, and will ultimately yield the greatest satisfaction and comfort.

and even if you believe all this God stuff is crap, think of it as a mental disorder. its like having an imaginary friend to talk to and get things off of your chest. people always feel better when they are able to talk to someone, especially someone who wont talk back or judge them. even from a psychological standpoint, you would feel better getting things off of your chest.

What kind of a dumb question is that...why do Budhists believe what they believe? Why do Muslims and Jews believe in the same God that Christians do? Why do scientists believe that the evolution of man is just a coinidence? You are an idiot!

When I say I am a Christian — by Maya Angelou

When I say ... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say ... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say ... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say ... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say ... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say ... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say ... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow

You are obviously not a Christian or you would not ask this question. You have not read the Bible or have not had any instruction or you would know what this means and wouldn't ask how we could believe this....I do and proud of it!

Because they can feel it. If you are a real Christian it is true for you, and it goes without saying that the only Christian died on the cross

uh... aren't you a poor lazy person if you want someone else to take your yoke?

sounds like liberal welfare propaganda to me?

you should take your yoke and do your own work...

Closed-minded folks will generally believe anything. C'mon, most of them voted for George Bush. What else do you expect?
