i have cold sores and they are really bothering me. how long would it take to remove them if i use l-lysine?

It will help. Avoid chocolate, nuts, and anything high in arginine.

I had very bad luck using lysine. As a matter of fact, it made the sores worse. Here's what I found to work the best: bee propolis. You just dry the surface of the cold sore with a clean cotton ball, then put a couple drops of propolis on the sores. They should clear up in 3 days if you apply the propolis twice a day. You can buy it online - just look up bees - honey on the Internet and you'll find someone who sells it.

I don't think it will remove what you have, but if you take it regularly, it will reduce the number of cold sores you get in the future. I used it for a while, but I can't remember to take a pill every day. It worked great while I used it. The best thing I have found for cold sores is abreva. Its kind of expesive, but excellent. If you compare it to other over the counter cold sore meds, it is the only one that has an anti-viral medication, cold sores are caused by a virus... the others merely contain pain killers and anti-infectives...

it does not work in people that have a high protein diet that explains why it doesn't works every body
