Number 1:
What are some ways that i can get my horse to stop eating my my mom's plants and trees when i let her out to graze in the yard?

Number 2:
What are some ways to play with my hyper dog to decrease her energy? She loves it when i throw a tennis ball, but anyother ideas?

Number 3:
I sort of have a problem dog...she is a mutt and contains Austrailian Shepard, and Border Collie and she thinks that it is her job to herd the horses and she will chase them, bark, and nip at them all day long...what should i do. She loves all of love and attention but still has her bad habits. We also have have problems with her running out of the gate, have any methods that work for escape artists?

The dog has been to professional training and i did not seem to work all that well. And she does love her home very much, i believe we spend plenty of time playing and working with her, I think the wrong thing to do is to give her to another home!

The dog loves to play chase but never really liked frisbee. And when she runs out of the gate it is usually when we open it to get the cars through. It is hard to catch her because she won't come, because she thinks we are going to put her on a chain. (which does not seem to work either.)

1) The Horse is dumb, i do not mean it in a bad way, the plants are food - it will go for whatever smells and tastes best.

2) Alot of dogs are hyper, take it as a good sign that it is in good health, take it for regular 1 hour walks or so a day and play stuff like frisbee to expend its energy then give it a big meal which will make it tired and lazy.

3) If it has serious discipline problems then rather than let it run out one day i suggest you send it to a school with professional trainers - I always kept my gate shut when i had dogs but she would either jump over the wall or slip between the opening - once she ran away and got lost - I was heart broken - She did come back - another time she went out - and some grumpy old man was upset she came on his property and shot her dead...with about 5 out of her 10 pups.

Number 1. I never could stop my horses from eating certain things. If it tastes good, they'll eat it. Some really like to gnaw on tree bark, and one theory is because they are hyper or frustrated and lack enough exercise.

Number 2 and 3. Your dog was meant to do exactly what she is doing. Australian Shepherds and Border Collies are very intelligent animals and very high energy. Herding is what they were bred to do and that's why she's always on the move.

I would suggest you find a home for her where someone will always work with her. Then get yourself a dog with a calmer disposition.

Sorry that I don't have better news for you.

1 - dont let the horse out unless you have it on a lead shank

2 - your dog is an active breed dog - if this was going to be a problem you should have thought about it before you got a dog with the breeds you did

3 - again same as answer #2 you have a herding breed dog, they are active if you dont give them something to do they will find it.. you should not have got this kind of a dog without being prepared to meet its energy/intelligence needs

perhaps you should join a club to do AGILITY with your dog - this will stimulate its mind

ok with the horse 1 u should try 2 keep the plants out of her reach and with the dog u should try frisbee or chase or even hide and seek with the other dog as long as its not hurting itself or the horses let it b and with the gate thing u should try to develope a genereal fear of wat lies b ond the fence if not chicken wire and latches usually work well
