My friend wants to do recycling for money as a business.I told her that it's a bad idea, but she doesn't care! And now she asks me to find out places that accept recycling stuff for money! I feel quite emberassed.What should I do?

What's wrong with recycling? It helps our planet and if you can make a few bucks at it, why not? The Yellow Pages will be your best source for recycling companies... they'll tell you what they pay for each kind of metal, glass, etc. So, get over the embarrassment and make some cash.

Honestly, recycling (cans, bottles, etc.) just doesn't pay as much as it used to, but there are recycling businesses that do quite well. My mom's boyfriend has a computer recycling business (you can recycle everything in a computer), but she would need start up money, a warehouse to store things, a baler to bale up all the parts, equipment and trucks to move everything around and people to tear down the units. It will cost her money to start anything that will make her any money.
As to what you should do... just tell her what I've told you.

You shoudn't be embrassed, it's an honorable thing, to recycle, even if it is for money, every little bit helps in this situation.
If you make phone calls, or write letters, you dont have to disclose who you are, no one will realize who you are. those companies accepting the recyclables, will be very happy.
Because, anything from old clothes, to newspapers, can be recycled, buisnesses, or non-profit companies, encourage people to recycle, it protects the enviroment, and saves our natural resources from being fully consumed.
Why not make money off of it? It takes time and alot of work, to do something like this, more time and more work than most jobs, and you get paid alot less. So it's very honorable.and they deserve it.

It is fine for your friend to recycle for money. She just needs to know she will not make much money at it. A whole pick up truck full of scrap metal will only bring a few dollars and a lot of work goes into loading it and unloading it. But hey, if she is that board let her do it.

If you aren't firm with her now about how you feel, she will continue in this behavior with her other endeavors, you are allowing her to treat you this way
plain and simple "Hey, I'm happy you know what you want to do, but recycling is not what I want to spend my time doing"
and if you can't say this, well then you're a chicken and people will keep dumping on you and you will keep letting them use you, not a happy place to be and you will deserve it and only have yourself to blame

Why embarassed? Its legal and she is the only one who can find out if it will work for her or not. You will be sorry if she turns this "business" into a cash cow and you were soooo negative.

recycling will give you $ ,but it won't make you rich fast. if you feel emb. then let her know ,and tell her , you need to be honest with yourself and her
