That is a personal choice. Know that whatever you ingest or subject yourself too has a direct influence on the baby. This is why smoking drinking and narcotics are big NO's. The problem with soda is that it is a beverage that contains an addictive substance that enhances moods and alters body chemistry for a short period of time, so it is a lot like a narcotic, though a lot less harmful to the body and user. As a generality, soda should be consumed rarely, as it leads to lower metabolism, which in turn can lead to obesity and other conditions. My advice to a pregnant woman, get real healthy, real quick. Juices with vitamins, milk, and other healthy drinks. I understand that craving may take hold and drive you to that can of Mr.Pibb, but keep a limited suplly around...besides women seem to derive a bit a satisfaction from sending dad on the 2am munchies run (which is probablly why I remain not a father). It is your child, it is your call, but if I were in the decision postion, I would want a healthy strong child, one who had the best possilbe start from the beggining.

Also: Ask yourself, would you give your 2 week old infant a bottle full of CocaCola?

Yes, you can, but the doctors ask that you limit your caffeine and sugar intake while pregnant. Most sodas give you unwanted extra gas and bloating. The sugar is not good while pregnant, especially if you are on the verge of gestational diabetes. It's best if you drink plenty of water and juices. You can also drink no caffeine, no sugar sodas.....

They say to minimize your caffeine intake. But sodas, even decaffeinated ones, are full of other things that are not healthy for you. I would limit them to once in awhile, like maybe only when you go out for a meal or something like that. Be sure to drink plenty of water. That is the best thing for you and your baby.

a little bit of caffeine is ok, and soda is typically lower in caffeine than coffee... so 1-2 sodas a day is ok. in truth, what your body really needs is water.

it is not good for you or your baby. a long time ago, i read in prevention magazine that drinking soda causes you to lose calcium in your bones. if your family has any history of bad bones (osteoporosis or such) then it is not an especially good idea to drink it.
