Do not miss this opportunity. A funeral or memorial service is the time when people get together and celebrate the life of someone they care about. You will hear stories you will never have an opportunity to hear any other time. You will meet people you might never otherwise meet. You will have an opportunity to talk to people who did know him. You might find people who can answer questions for you and it will be a way for you to get to know him too. Besides your grandfather might be happy to see you there. You never know.

It's sad that you never had the opportunity to meet your grandfather. If your father is still living, and I presume he is, go and support him and let him know you care.
