The first time I took an MBTI, I scored as an INTJ. However, I know from life experience that I am an INTP all the way.
I think that a lot of times the results of taking an MBTI are influenced by the current mood. For example, say one is an extrovert, but is having something of a down mood that is pushing him or her to not want to be near anyone. It's very possible that a test result would score as an introvert.
Probably the best thing to do is be sure to go other the test while in your normal state of mind. Also, it you can find a detailed description of the type that you score, and you don't seem to match up very well with it, then that might indicate an incorrect reading.
There are a fair number of profiles for all sixteen types, but INTP's have this (http://www.intp.org/intprofile.html) which is very detailed. Hope that helps.

I took it administered in a psychology class. I wasn't able to try to figure out the test when I took it because I didn't even know what the possible outcomes were and the categories it breaks you up into. It was dead on. I'm an INFJ (introverted, intuitive, feeling, judging). It fits me to a "T", so much so that it's almost scary.

I'm an INFP, the idealist. Introverted, intuitive, feeling, percieving. It fits me perfectly. How can they think the test is wrong? They must have answered the questions of how they WISH they are or PERCIEVE themselves to be. Either that or the did not like the results.
I don't think I trust you extroverts, constantly conspiring with each other, making plans... ..........

ENFP- and I scored a 47 on extrovert! I thought it was dead on. However, I am a pretty str8 forward guy so it wasn't too much of a surprise. You're an introvert heh? I don't know how much I trust you non-people people. In fact, I think I'm going to slowly back away from this answer while continuing to keep my eyes on you at all times.. I think I said too much already...

It depends...did you take the stupid crappy one they provide on some pathetic website (and make ENTIRELY predictable)? Or did you take the pencil test administered by a certified psychologist?
If it was taken online...I'd say, hands down, it isn't accurate (you are more than likely either putting in answers OPPOSITE to what you would do) or you are putting in answers of who you WANT to be (which the REAL test has internal controls for accuracy).
Yeah...good luck with that.

Mine was pretty accurate, I know there is a short version, but I took a longer one on a computer at college, to see what studies, I would be good at pursuing.

INFP, with the I/E somewhat on the border.
It's pretty accurate, as the results are based on my own input.
The results will match the accuracy of the responses; "know thyself" enough .... :)

I'm introverted something-or-other.
I don't remember what else, but I believe I thought it was right.
