No, but you're going to get a better job with "A" degree in something or another.

It helps as well if you have a "TOEFL" certificate for the teaching of English as a foreign language, which you can get in about 8 to 12 weeks on line.

What is your background? I personally know a SCHOOL in Shenzhen (just NW of Hong Kong) that needs good teachers.

It depends on the agency, but most of the Teach English Overseas agencies don't require a university degree. You just need a high school diploma and be an English native speaker. Most of them will provide training. Of course, if you're a university graduate you would be ahead of the game. Just make sure that it's a reputation agency, because some of them could be involved with human trafficking.

The Chinese set great store by university degrees -- especially overseas degrees -- and it doesn't much matter what field your degree is in, you will find yourself in a much more advantageous position if you have a degree. There are any number of 'language mills' who will hire almost anyone, but there have been some real horror stories about how they treat their teachers, and also how they pay (or don't pay!) the teachers.
With a degree, you can assure yourself of a job in a reputable school.
