Why do the "tongues" in sneakers always go to the side?

Does this make sence? and if so how do you fix it or stop it from happening?

but i think its when you have high arched
i do
it doesnt happen to my friends

It has nothing to hold it in place,so it goes to one side or the other.Tie them up,that seems to be the best way to stop that .
