I started to put my baby in her walker when she was 6 months old. Now she is 8 months and still doesn't know how to walk in her walker, and she does not craw yet but rolls around to get where she needs to go. This kind of concerns me because it has been this long and she doesn't really try. Should I be concerned or not worry about it?

I wouldn't be, Mine is the same age and she only rolls around on the floor as well...I haven't tried a walker, because I don't believe they are safe...but every baby will learn at their own pace...if this continues to concern you, then I would ask your doctor.

I bought a walker for my son and he never used it. He didn't get the fact that he needed to move his legs. He just sat in it and played. However, He did use the walker that looks kinda like a stroller. He pushed it everywhere. You can get them at walmart or toysrus. Little tikes make one kind and there are other brands too. He didn't start to walk until he was a year old. Each child develops at their own speed. As for the rolling that is normal too. Some babies scoot on their bums. others do the traditional crawl on their hands and knees and others find it safer to roll. Get the book "What to expect the first year" I was always thumbing through to find answers. Then I got what to expect toddler years. And of course you can always call your doctor and see what they have to say.

It is probably OK, but check with your doctor anyway. As a side note, there has been a lot of research indicating that walkers can actually delay gross motor development in babies, slowing down the rate at which they learn to crawl, cruise and walk. You might want to check with with doctor about that, as well. Good luck!

I wouldn't be concerned. My daughter did not speak much until she was about 3 years old. They told me she just did not have anything to say that seemed to be important to her, so maybe your baby doesn't have anywhere important that she needs to go that you don't already take her!!!! She will develop and plus she is only 8 months old some babies don't walk until after a year.

She is just fine not all babies are the same. There are alot of babies that do not start walking until after their first birthday. Enjoy this time now, for when she does start walking she will make up for it. As long as the doctor sees nothing wrong just let her do her thing it will come to her when she is ready.

my baby is ten months old and he still rolls where he want to go. he has just started to consider crawling, but hasn't done it yet. most babies do not walk in walkers ever. or if they do they simply push themselves backwards. i wouldn't worry about it. enjoy this times before your baby discovers how to get around. once she does you will not have a moment of peace! i try to enjoy these last few days before my son figures out how to crawl! because once he does....

even though kids develop at different stages id be concerned and would talk with my pediatrician to make sure everything is okay being that age and not crawling seems concerning but my son never crawled he pulled up and held on until he started walking so i guess it depends id get a professional opinion hope everything is okay

she will figure it out soon enough...my son is 8 months old and he also rolls everywhere to get around. he doesn't crawl yet either..its normal for them not to want to use a walker (that's what his doctor said)

walkers are very bad for a child's development. get her out of it. she's too young to walk normally. carry her and let her play on the floor.

Every baby grows at their own pace, but if you are worried, call you pediatrician and they will give you good advice.
Enjoy your baby!
