Well I went to Japan this Summer and it cost me about 5,400. Wow that's alot of money. They had some discount and other things so about 5,000 for one MONTH. I went through AYUSA. I got the money through my church, work, others, friends, and my pal the bank loan (which my mother is paying back now. There might be a way to put it on taxes. But yep I went through AYUSA.

I was an exchange student to Japan with the AFS program. From everything I've heard, AFS is the best program to go with (and one of the mre expensive- I went for 6 months and it was over $8,000). They do offer scholarships, but they are hard to get because so many people apply for them. You can also try Rotary, but in that program you frequently change families. In AFS, you stay with one family for the whole program (unless of course, there is a problem and you need to switch. I don't know how much Rotary costs, but I've heard it's cheaper than AFS.
