Dont need it unless the are spiking a fever or teething. Thats about it. Some abusive people use it to make the baby sleep, but that is child abuse.

well first of all you should have your doctor tell you EXACTLY how much to give your little one in case of a fever. too much can be a very bad thing. second of all you really only need it if your baby has a fever or has just been vaccinated and might get a fever. if you are going to carry baby tylenol on you be sure to also have a rectal theremometer on you too. this way you know your baby really does have a fever and you are not giving it unecessary medication. i personally think you shouldn't take baby who is sick out anyways, but i do understand being a mom and all that sometimes you have no choice. i don't really give my son tylenol for teething unless i know for sure he really does have a tooth coming in. if i just went by the signs he would have tylenol every day since he was 3 months old! so really unless his gums are noticably swollen i don't give him tylenol. call me cruel but i don't want to give him medicine he doesn't need. but most importantly make sure you find out FROM A DOCTOR exactly how much to give your little one, and double check to make sure you have the right dose. overdosing can be a very serious matter. good luck with your little one.

Never heard of keeping it in the diaper bag....can't be that much of an emergency can it? You could always get to a drugstore couldn't you. I don't think you are even supposed to give a newborn that stuff are you? Well, anyways I never carried medicine with me when I had a baby unless I was going somewhere for a few days with her. You'll know when to use it if her temperature is elevated and you'll have to take it rectally...but only if you think something is wrong. First clue is change in child's temperament and 2nd is feeling the forehead if it is hot.
Don't worry about what everyone else says or you will be overwhelmed with conflicting "well-intentioned advice. As a mother you will know so don't worry. Good luck and congratulations.

well, you'll know when you have the baby, it wotn take long to figure it out, but if you want advice:
It's When your baby is off beat, has a low grade temperature, is tempermental or groggy... runny nose, or sometimes even more quiet then usual (really depends on the baby) Basically they will be a little off their normal... (sweating, over sleeping, dazed, teary eyed, flushed, teething pain, warmer than usually. ) it's good to give them the tylenol, but ask your doctor first, be sure to call the doctor before giving your baby anything, they dont charge if you call and ask for a suggestion. They might want to see the baby if the temperature is way to high. Babies and temperatures do not mix, high temperatures can cause brain damage in matureing babies, that can turn to learning disablities. if your baby ever gets a high fever, bring him to the doctors or hospital immediatly, dont try to adminster ice to a baby!
Baby tylenol can lower fevers fast. and it is good to administer it as soon as you could, but i still suggest calling the doctor, if you cant get ahold of the doctor, use the suggested amount on the box, and continue to check the baby, and it's temperature. if anything changes for the worse, go to the hospital, if you feel the need too.

I never carried Tylenol in the diaper bag. It's to be given every 4 to 6 hours, and we never stayed out that long when running errands, going for a walk, to the park, etc. You can use it for fever and teething pain. If my boys were ever teething, I'd dose them up before we went out and we'd be home before it was time for the next dose, so I left it at home. If your baby has a fever, it's best not to go out at all.
As for knowing your baby needs it...well, you know when a baby is feverish by taking their temperature or just feeling them. If you use it for teething pain...you'll know when your baby is teething, so you can give it then.
I figured I had enough stuff crammed in the diaper bag to begin with...one less thing to carry around was just that...one less thing I'd have to carry around. :)

oh believe my girl u will need it. It may actuallly save his life if he all of a sudden breaks out a fever. I have a 2 1/2 year old and I remember when he was younger we would use it for him teething, but mainly for fever because babies can catch a fever fast and you will need baby tylenol to calm it down.

baby tylenol is medicine that is good to have when your baby has a fever or is teething. I took with me everywhere I went when my kids were babies and it saved them a lot of pain that would have had if I hadn't had it.
it is used for a common cold, the flu, headaches, sore throats, and toothaches and helps reduce fevers.
Congratulations on the new baby!

I usually have it in the cabinet but I have never carried it in my diaper bag unless they were sick or teething or needed it for something like that. I have never needed it with either of my two daughters (I have one on the way in October too) so I dont worry about it. If I need it its in the cabinet;
