Yes it should be our (USA) official language. Many other countries actually teach English in their schools because so much correspondence in business is done in English. Worldwide business is easier in one language. English has unofficially been chosen as the language to use in worldwide business and trade. NOT to learn English would keep a person suppressed from the world around him, especially in the USA. No one is saying people can't speak their own language, but to be able to correspond with others they'd need to know English.

No, I don't think it should be official. What's the point? This country has gotten along fine for well over 200 years without an official language. I don't see the need to have one now.

Yes, it should be the official language. People who speak
other languages should be allowed to use their native
language when speaking to others who also speak it. We
absolutely cannot please everyone in the U.S. who speak
a different language by making every language the official
one. Or if we just make Spanish (for instance) official, then
people who speak other languages would be upset because
it isn't French, German, or other. Keep English the "official"
one spoken in the U.S. and none of the other problems will
ensue.

To some people their language is a strong part of their culture. Sure, having English as the official language would be convinent but lots of people wouldn't like it. It wouldn't happen in this lifetime but possibly in the near future when more people speak English. By the way (this sort of relates) I think Americans should have used the metric system instead of ummm American units (i forget what its called) because I hate converting. But that's just me :)

English isnt the original language of the world. It is a bastard language made up of a little bit of everything. So making english an official language would be a little redundant.

Yes, it should be the official language because that is the language we speak and ultimately communicate in (paper, etc.). Why? Well, if I go over to France, they are hardly printing things in English for me to understand, and have you ever tried to speak to a French person, and you only know English? They treat you like sh*t. If you want to live here, learn the language. It's not a comment of "racism" or "bigotry", but just of common sense. If I go to any other country, they don't adapt their culture to suit me and my culture. I am expected to adapt to their. It should only be the same here, right?

Nope, it shouldn't. BEcuase we are not England, and this is a country of immigrants, it shouldn't have an "official" language. Isnt it much mroe beautiful that way? To show tha a country has no official language cause it is open to everyone? Of course it is NOT that wayso wtf do we even have a say in that?! We're still gonna speak whatever language we want and should be taught and given the option in our native tounge to help us leanr English
