You are not looking at the bigger picture, I agree that no one should go hungry, or not have a bed to sleep in or not have the basic needs to survive.
Given that, sports are not the evil cause, nor is any other form of entertainment. I will stick to sports sense that is what you picked, so sports bring in revenue to a city and state, which provides you with jobs, and therefore you are able to afford the luxuries that you have and your children and yourself are able to eat and have a roof over your head. That is the big picture, and it is not just sports it is anything, that is what makes the economy work. So the next time you want to complain about a sports event, maybe you will consider that that may be what feeds you and your children tonight.

Someone once said that they don't have the sports gene, that
is to say they don't put sports very high on their list of priorities.
I suppose I don't care that much about sports, but it is good
healthy clean fun and I think you should participate in sports as
much as you choose.
If you really want to help starving people though, the best way is
to get with mega churches or synagogues that have support
programs for the hungry.

I agree completely. Millions of bucks paid to guys who throw a ball into a hoop, bit a ball with a stick, or kick a ball into a net. Silly isn't it? So much could be done with that money for the good of mankind instead of one man or woman. Let these people go out and get real jobs that actually accomplish something.

For every burger saved is equivalent to three pieces of bread for three mouths to feed in Africa. Revenues derived from sports events should go to food aid for the poor countries.

Who cares, everyone keeps telling us that the world hates us, so I say F*ck Em. I will eat a nice fat burger watching football on Sundays enjoying the fact that some little bastard in a country that hates us is starving.
I say no more money to ANY country for ANY reason if they bad mouth us.

If the starving people played sports we could watch them, paying for the privilege. Then they can buy their own food.

Sports is definitely the "Opiate of the Asses", but it's still not our responsibility to feed the hungry. "Let 'em eat cake"!
