Eddie VanHalen or Mark Knopfler. Also George Harrison was much better at guitar than John Lennon. Alice Cooper once said "George Harrison was one of the greatest guitar players He wasn,t flashy he would put just enough guitar into a song as was needed no more no less."

Django Reinhardt is the best in my opinion. But it's a crowded field, you have Les Paul, Jimi, Dick Dale, Clapton, all much splashier guitar players....hard to decide.
Django had to reinvent the way he played - and with such results. His playing always makes me smile.
