500%???? Actually it's about 35% on average.

The tire prices sound absurd, unless your using something really special or unique. $650 for non-rebuildable coil over dampers is steep, but if I could get hooked up with the Ohlins shock used on the rear of my dirt bike for that price, I'd buy a dozen of them. They are normally around $1300 each A $500 stock seat sounds high, but it might not be, depending upon what it is. A Corbin or Mustang seat normally runs in that range, or more.

I'd be real interested in hearing more about this deal... What kind of bike, brands of tires, etc.

***********************************************************

It's about supply and demand.

Take any of the items you listed and imagine how many are built and sold for just one car, truck, or particular size. Now take the same item for a bike or atv and the total number produced and sold period won't be near the number of the specific automotive piece.

Take shocks for example... How many shocks do you suppose Monroe alone builds for say a half ton Chevy pick up? Now think about the limited technology involved in those dampers. Now compare that to the numner of motorcycles out there, that use half or even a quarter number of shocks per vehicle, and how many are actually replaced over the life time of the bike/atv. Now think about the differance in technology and materials used in some of those powersports specific shocks.

Which do think costs more to produce? Which do you think has a greater number of units sold thereby allowing the profit margin per unit to be less?

It's basic manufacturing principles applied to supply and demand in a very specific retail market.
