Claypool (sorry, big primus fan, and he sings all the lyrics, too, gotta love the fingernail strum, I do it all the time)
P-Nut (listen to Offbeat Bareass, Feels So Good (live) and Homebrew is a good one, too)
Flea, of course
And the best with a pick: Mike Dirnt, probably because of the song Longview, that bass line is really cool and fun to play.

i think when u talk about the best or greatest u have to look at the inflouence they had on the instrument, and no doubt about it the person that had the most inflouence on the instrument was paul mccartney, on evry single beatles tune mccartney just gets down at the bass, theres other bass players that get down on some songs and just stay behind the guitar on others mccartney wasent afraid to venture away from the guitar creating his own melodic beat , his basslines have really stood well against the test of time i remember in 64 hearing mccartnys bassline on all my loving and i saw her standing there and i was like wow i couldent stop playing the record its safe to say i no longer wanted to play the guitar after hearing mccartney then in 65 took to another level on another girl and in 66 with taxman and your bird can sing just masterfull stuff havent heard a bass player come close to mccartney well maybe roger waters of floyd and some of jones stuff in zep but mccartney stands alone!

I like the "Pocket Fisherman" that they advertise on TV late at night. It's small, compact, folds up and yet is strong. You can catch big ol' bass with that thing. I saw them do it on the commercial. Bamboo poles are good too but they can break easily. Bass fishing is a really good activity that can take you mind off really important life issues that matter. How do you like to cook your bass?

Jaco Pastorious!
He was most known for playing with Joni Mitchell, Weather Report, and Pat Metheny. What a unique style. His style centered around his fretless bass
He died several years ago but what a legacy!
