I need some adivce for keeping a conversation going and starting a conversation.

I am also shy. I find that by being genuinely interested in the person I am talking to, and interested in the same things he is, I can keep the conversation going like that. Listen for feelings, or at least what he most wants to communicate. Ask questions. You will probably find that with a little practice, you can keep people talking as long as you want.

Depends if you know the people at all or have never seen them before. If you don't know them then go up and introduce yourself, ask them their names, do they live around there etc. If you do know them then go up and say hello, ask them what music they like etc
