If the whole trip is 4½ hours, then a third of that would be 1½ hours.

You can do this by multiplying fractions:
4½ x ⅓

Change 4½ into a mixed fraction:
9/2 x 1/3

Now multiply across (multiply numerators and multiply denominators)
9/6

Reduce the fraction (divide numerator and denominator by 3)
3/2

Convert this back to a mixed fraction:

Alternatively, done as decimals, you have
4.5 hours / 3 = 1.5 hours

Don't worry, you'll learn to do this in your head without even having to think about it. Maybe they'll teach you more about this in school next year.

Ok, all you need to do to find a third of something is to multiply it by 1/3....... or divide by 3! same thing.

So.... 4.5 / 3 = 1.5

so an hour and a half. Good luck!

...of course you have to deal with jet lag and the airlines making you wait and everything. Variables will not be factored in. :P

Are you serious? One third of 4.5 = 1.5 hours. You shouldn't even need to take your shoes off to figure that one out. Damn.
