I didn't ask for a critique of my list, I asked for other peoples' lists.

To John: I consider LOTR to be the most overrated film series of all-time. The acting is bland and over-dramatic, the dialogue is simplistic, the story screams of melodrama to the nth degree, the action is far overdone and the romantic subplot feels tacked-on.

Oh, and king_of_hyrule: Excuse me if I don't exactly take your jabs at my tastes in films remotely seriously.

How about using box office gross as the criterion for "top"? That takes out the subjective element. The top 10 movies that came out at some point in in 2001 (in the USA) were

$317,557,891 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
$314,776,114 The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
$267,652,016 Shrek (2001)
$255,870,172 Monsters, Inc. (2001)
$226,138,454 Rush Hour 2 (2001)
$202,007,640 The Mummy Returns (2001)
$198,539,855 Pearl Harbor (2001)
$183,405,771 Ocean's Eleven (2001)
$181,166,115 Jurassic Park III (2001)
$180,011,740 Planet of the Apes (2001)

I don't think I saw any of the ones on your list, and I saw all the ones above except perhaps Rush Hour 2.

I think you missed a big one...Lord of the Rings for sure. Though I do agree with a bunch of yours, I don't think Fast Runner or Time Out were really among the "best". They were ok though.
