If you are sleeping on your side, your are applying pressure on your hip joint(s) which is causing inflamation....sleep on your back..better for you, and may stop problem.
If you are just "stiff" in the morning, you are not getting enough exercise...start a gym program and stick to it...you do not want to be crippled at age 50...we live a very long time now, 90 is not unusual. Have a full body MRI (IF you have no metal in your body). Have it checked for arthritis...you may have onset...can be controlled with pain meds and glucosamine.
NO this is not normal at your age. Change your life style and have things checked out ASAP. You are not old, by any means. You do not want to be OLD long before your time. Good luck

I'm also 36 and I guess it must be that we are beginning to get on up there because I have the same problem but mine is mostly in my back. Do you retain a lot of fluids, I drink too much soda and my hands are a little puffy in the mornings from that! I've had to start drinking more water and Arizona green tea and I also take Osteo Bi-flex for my joints that are a little stiff. I started playing soft ball and I found that I'm not as spry as I once was, they really do help with the stiffness though!

get checked out for hyperinsulinemia. In the meantime, take potassium, vitamin B and calcium, or eat foods that are high in these substances.

It may be possible you have arthritis, but high insulin or low blood sugar are a lot more possible in my opinion.

check out www.hufa.org regarding hypoglycemia and www.mayoclinic.com (search for hyperinsulinemia).

36 isn't really all that old. I'd be seeking professional help on this and not rely on Answers to dictate medical advice to you.
