They now advise eating no more than 6 ounces (about one serving) of canned albacore or "white" tuna. At the Department of Foods and Nutrition at Purdue University, we tend to be a bit more conservative and recommend eating no more than 4 ounces a week. Albacore tuna contains more mercury than the canned "light" variety, which can be relatively low in mercury. I hope this helps GOOD LUCK

My ob/gyn told me to limit my intake to one can (3 oz.) or one small tuna steak per week. One of my cravings with my first pregnancy was tuna melts, and I had to have one every week or I'd go nuts! The place I went was known for their large portions, and I'm betting there was a little more than 3 oz. on one sandwich. My older son was born healthy, normal, and he's so smart! Well, my second son is too...but I craved Fudgesicles with him. That's a whole other subject. :D
