ooohhhhh I am afraid.
What makes you say Americans don't like Russians.
I have many Russian friends. like my Dad & Uncles
One of them was with me today at the patent office.
I went to the Patent Office to register some of my inventions.
I went to the main desk to sign in and the lady at the desk had a form that had to be filled out. She wrote down my personal info and then asked me what I had invented.
I said, "A folding bottle."
She said, "Okay, what do you call it?"
I said "A Fottle."
"What else do you have?"she asked me.
I said "A folding carton."
"And what do you call it?"
I said "A Farton."
She snickered and said, "Those are silly names for products! And one of them sounds kind of crude."
I was so upset by her comment that I grabbed the form and left the office without even telling her about my folding bucket.

Americans are typically afraid of Communists.
I know Russians aren't Communists anymore, but a lot of Americans remember the old times (Cold War, etc.).

If there is any truth to the statement that Americans don't like Russians, its probably because many reactionary Americans still suffer from the Cold War mentality, where everything from Russia is some how linked to Communism.
Russians, based on this false association with Communism are characterized as cold-hearted, cold-blooded, despotic, despisers of democracy, and censors of free speech. Hey, wait a minute…that sounds a lot like this administration.

After so many years of propaganda from both the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. about each other the feelings instilled in generation after generation of us both have left us all with a lingering "bad taste" in our mouths. After McCarthyism (did I spell that correctly?) and the blacklisting of so-called "communist sympathizers", the bomb drills of the 1950's and '60's... After all the movies and the rallys and the films of Soviet Missiles parading through Red Square... All I can say is this: Although none of us are to blame for how we were taught to feel for the sake of our respective homelands, it may take a little more time for suspicions and fears that have been a staple of thought for so many years to finally fade away. Oddly enough, during all that time of difference between our two nations, we were also taught that the Soviet ruled peoples were "victims of propaganda" by the Communist regime'. We were taught to pity you and pray for your freedom... fight for it if necessary. Unfortunately, like ourselves, we also feel your people were also responsible for their own type of government, since, how could it have continued to exist without the continued support of it's population? The Soviet Union died from bankruptcy... not revolution. There are still some of us who worry that, perhaps, the Communists are just collecting monies through foreign capital ventures to rebuild their economy and one day rise again. Political Paranoia? Could be. We've had a very unusual relationship with the Russians in the past (the Cold War) and we've been taught very deeply to be wary. Forgive us if we are wrong. The majority of us would rather have a happy world to live in rather than one filled with bitter suspicion.

I have met several Russians and love them. I actually met this woman who's whole family had been part of the circus! As an American, I can't say we get to meet too many circus people. I thought it was amazing. Every Russian I have met is an incredible person. So I wouldn't lump all of America in the "hate Russians" category because it isn't true.

LOL...no I am not afraid of the Russians. Actually I felt that Russians and Americans were very similar. We all want peace, we all want to just live our lives, and you know as well as us, that it's not always popular being a super power. I am concerned about the direction Putin is taking Russia, but no, I am not afraid, not at all.

I've live in Texas all my life, I don't have anything against
Russians at all.
They have excellent taste in VODKA!
Its true when was a kid during the cold war, people did not like the Russians, but that was because of the government(s)
far as people are concerned now, that's over as far as I can tell

I haven't sensed any feelings of dislike toward Russians. Maybe people from about ages 40-60 may have some leftover propaganda in their brains, but otherwise, I think American perception of Russians is that they are pretty cool, hard-drinking people trying to get by!
