How do I handle a rude co-worker who has a higher title then I do?

This is a sticky situation. I had a co-worker like this who was very rude, but if she thought someone was being rude to her, then she would report you to Human Resources. So you may not want to be rude, but you also do not want to treat them like a friend. If others think that the person is rude, then you have nothing to worry about, chances are no one likes them anyway. If you are the only one who they are being rude to, you need to come right out and ask them what their problem is. You spend many hours at work, probably with a lot of stress, and you don't need someone making it more difficult for you.

Can they be a threat to your job? If your relationship with them is important to you or in your best intrest try to get to know them a little better, perhaps try to become friends. Try talking to them using i feel this way when this happens could also benefit you but dont place blame. They could just be having a really rough time and dont mean to be rude not that thats an excuse. There is also the possibility that your taking it too personal. Be nice go out of your way to be nice and if nothing works keep witnesses close (digital recorders are great also) and just do your job to the best of your abilities.

To honestly answer that I need more details, however I an i the same situation every day. I use passive aggressive measures, if they are paranoid about losing their job feed it by going "you know what i heard the other day?" If they aren't preforming prepare spreadsheets that show their inadequacy and email them to her Superior...my list goes on and on including farting in their office space and putting honey in unseen areas around there workstation to attract ants

Remember what's against regulations and policies (like sexual harrassment for example) that your co-worker has done and report it to HR. Or, as I have done before, fight fire with fire. But then again, that's just me.

You compliment this person on whatever ... make this person believe you are his/her best friend. Look, bottom line, you don't poop where you eat. Your job pays the bills, end of story!
