Beacause, Elizabeth had noticed that she has feelings for Jack, but she is still heading for Will. When the Compass keeps leading to Jack Sparrow, she had a feeling that maybe that was the right choice. She had kissed him, but that was to get him to die on the Black Pearl. But from Elizabeth's facual expression, it looked like she was sad for trying to kill Jack, After all Jack did save her life. I believe once again that she will fall for him again because Elizabeth has great feelings for him. Even Will is geting jealous of them! Hope I helped! I want Elizabeth and Jack to be together, tough!

She's always had an adventurous spirit, wants to be able to do what ever she wants. Not whats proper as dictated by society. As a child she had a fascination with pirates, their songs, and even their 'code' or laws. She was fearless. Was there ever mention of her mother? Perhaps that was an influencing factor. Raised by a Governor away from 'polite' society. Besides, most girls dig the bad boy thing.

clomtancy got it right. She loves Will, but is using her feminine charms to her advantage. She is playing Sparrow's own game against him. He is selfish, and will sacrifice everyone else to save his own skin. She is just turning the tables on him.
