I have volunteered as an adult literacy tutor, food distribution, nursing homes,Headstart programskid's school, raised money for charity, relay walking, in a free legal clinic all kinds of things. There is always a need for volunteers. The special feeling I get is very difficult to explain. I have been helped and feel I should "pay it forward" but I feel that even if I had never needed help, that is a gift and should be paid forward as well. Volunteerism is a gift in itself and it's too bad that, all too often, it;s done for rewards and when received never done again.

I used to volunteer at a museum. I would document artifacts and even got to make my own display. I took away a love for history.

last year i volunteered at a day care summer camp and i worked with 3 year olds because i was interested in working as a day care teacher and also at a retiree home to help elder citizens with things i.e entertaining them liek dominoes or exercise or helping them to eat i originally did it for school because in my school district you need at least 60 hours of social services to graduate and i now have 120+ and i am working on more. they also have scholarship programs for students with over 500 s.s hours

i use to do volunteer work at a state school with mental health and mental retardation and it is amazing what you can learn from them too . yes, that's what i said . " learn from them " . i would helped them read , play first learners music , help to organized their room better and alot of other things . some of them knew crochet , one played the drums. and other had talents to make beautiful cards with beautiful stationery . I'm retired now , and moved to another state , but i never forget them . they are really special . i really , really enjoyed working there .
