This same argument was brought up, when portable cassette decks, and portable cd players were invented.

What about TV killed the radio star?

and the radio industry still strives. Infact, the radio industry themselves use playlists, and use charts based on downloads, and popularity of songs. They Host concerts and events, that you cant get with a normal Radio or Portable players.

Radio stations dont get money from you listening, they get advertisement money, for advertising big, and local buisnesses.
The more popular that station, the more money they can ask to run the ad. There will always be advertising mongruls to fuel the radio funding.

But yes, ipods do make peopel go deaf prematurely. Just like any set of head phones, or any concert goers..

Think about it, Radios get their money based on how many ads they feed you. They are forced to play certain ads at certain times, and every few songs, or after their "30 straight minutes!" modes, you get hit with ads. Or talk shows, not everyone likes those talk shows, they would rather listen to music, on their car ride to and from work, than dirty talk shows, or teen talk shows.

Because of the new Satelite radio, Radio will be more advance, thats the biggest threat to free radio right now, not the same thing that has happend for ages, with new inventions of portable players. (the same problem happened with Movie theatres, and VHS, then DVD, then INDemand. they thought they were goners)

It's called competition. When the printing press came along, calligraphy didn't die, it turned into an art that fewer peopel do today, but is still around. When television came out movies didn't disapear.

Just because a new form of technology makes something lese less popular is no reason to make a law against it. That is just silly.

I have an iPod and I love it, and I still have great hearing. I'm one of the few people that can hear dog whistles, and still do after half of a year of listening to my iPod everywhere I go. iPods are a form of entertainment just like television and people have a choice of what kind of entertainment they want. They have a choice whether or not they want to listen to one and there's nothing anyone can do about it once it's hit the market and already been sold to billions of people across the world. CD players can be just as dangerous, and TVs can be just as brain melting but are we going to go into people's homes and tell them they can't watch their TV? Sure, we can advise people not to listen to their iPods or watch their TVs as often, but it's their life and their body, not yours, and if they want to blow up their brain with music, then it is their choice to do so. I never turn my iPod up more than halfway, so I know how to control it to save my ears, but if others know better and want to turn it up anyway then it's not your problem. If you don't like iPods, then don't buy one, nobody says you have to. Try not to ruin the fun for the rest of us who love music. Music is my Anti-drug and I'm stickin' to it.

they will make you deaf if you listen to them on full volume like all the people who go prematurely deaf do. and ipods themselves should be stopped, not all mp3 players though, most have an fm tuner, so if i get bored of my songs, i can just switch to the radio.

not to mention those white headphones really piss me off.

This looks like a pathetic way to get traffic for your myspace.

Other things are worse for society but you don't see anyone else doing sh*t about it.
