Another survey for a paper I’m writing for my law class. This time it’s “can a woman rape a man?” Some states say it is not legally possible. What do you think?

At common-law, rape meant carnal knowledge of a woman not married to the perpetrator (i.e., intercourse) without her consent and by use of force. Some states have modified the common-law via legislative acts defining rape differently. In others, the courts have done so through case law. It depends where you live.

Assuming that a jurisdiction merely defines rape as intercourse without consent, it is possible to rape a man. Men can get achieve an erection when frightened (I've heard some men even get hard as a result of fright). Moreover, a woman could theoretically be stronger than a man. She also might be able to overcome even superior strength (for example, if he is drunk, ill, or unconscious, or too frightened to resist).

If it's really true that some states say it's not possible that's outrageous.
In a country that can not be adult about anything sexual, talking bout the US here, they deny victims any legal ground?
To be perfectly clear, yes a man can be raped by a women and yes he is as much a victim as a women victim.
You should all think long and hard bout this.Everywhere you can you want to meddle between consenting adults(Gay marriage, prostitution, the idiot policies on porn) but rape of a man is not possible. This makes me sick.

Yes, a woman can rape a man.

Abner Luima was raped by cops with a broomstick. Do you think a woman can handle a broomstick?

If a woman has consensual sex with a minor male who cannot legally give consent, has statutory rape ocurred? I think so. This is a woman raping a boy, so not really an answer to your specific question, but perhaps something to consider.

A man CAN be raped by a woman.

How? you might ask. Well, men react to a situation that has a "rush" of adrenaline by blood surging through their bodies, including the "nether region", which causes an erection. Just because a guy gets an erection, does not mean they WANT to have sex. If they say "NO", just as it is for a woman, it means "NO".

The reason that it is socially not thought about is the fact that men are supposed to be the "stronger" sex, and because they are "stronger", they "can't" be violated. It is a violation for anyone not to control what is happening to their body at the hands of someone else. Men can't stop an erection, nor can they "will" them to happen. There just has to be stimulation - and that is not just a sexual thing.

I think the problem is with the definition. In order for a forced sexual act to be considered as rape, the law says there must be penetration. Absence of penetration....sexual assault. The thing is can a woman actually force a guy to get an erection if he doesnt want to? Hmmmmmmm? I think so she most definately can. So in my view, a woman can rape a man.

Yes. I actually read about a case in which a woman got charged for that...the guy was drunk and passed out. It was a couple of years ago and I don't remember where I read that, but yes it can happen and a woman can be charged for it. Oh yeah, and there's the whole Mary kay Letourneau thing.

yes...not only woman can say no and not be heard. The difference is that it might be hard to prove physical evidence of a rape.
