What do you want the goat for? Milk production? Meat? Hair? Show?
Pets and grade goats (mixed breeds) usually start out at about $25-$50. Show quality and high milk yeild purebred does are upwards of $1,000.

Try national dairy goat association of america website. They should have a list of breeders on there somewhere if you are looking for show/milk quality,

Or, try your local 4-H club.

At the Triple H Auction in Metter, Ga. (every first and third Saturday) small breed goat kids go for about 25 bucks. Adults go for maybe $40 - nannies. Billies are cheaper, unless they are Boer or Kikko (meat goats) and they can go up to $200.

Depends.

What kind of goat? Pygmy, Bora, mixed, milk, meat?

Where do you live? Geographical location makes a huge difference.

Adult or kid? Buck or doe?

Around here you could get a goat for anywhere from $25 to a couple hundred bucks.
