There is no meaning. I heard this on a radio broadcast. A college professor gave it to a class to interpret. The result was "ooooooo it makes me wonder"
Thats about as deep as it gets.

It's actually about an argument between Page and Plant. See, Plant always liked real, authentic butter but Jimmy Page prefered margarine. They would bicker back and forth until one would hit the other with a turkey drumstick. It was pretty sad. Bonham and John Paul Jones would just stay out of the way until the day that John Bonham drank too much because of the way Plant/Page would continue their fight.

Me? I like butter.

That Robert Plant & John Bonham, and the gang, were all up late one night partying, and wishing they had'nt done so many drugs, and thats just their written version, of where they'd hoped they'd go should they have ODd, or not woke-up, from mixing too many dangerous, party vices, together..... Or they were just spun-out, one night "Bored-out" of their minds, and wrote it too keep busy, and just their own "philisophical-perception" of what heaven, was too them, & added to it........And turned around and made Millions, if not Billions, off the Album!!!

It may be a girl slipping away from reality.

I think the live version of Stairway is better IMHO

super song. In seventh grade, we had to examine the lyrics in English type. After that some years, hard to submit to in ideas lots of it. yet i think of in one line, it extremely is with regard to the rigidity between a non secular existence and a materialistic existence.
