People speak of the Roman Empire collapsing and probably believe that it came tumbling down overnight. But the truth is that Rome just slowly faded away. It abandoned it's outposts and ever so gently closed in on itself until it was simply, "no more". It's nearly impossible to predict when this will occur with the U.S., but it will probably happen in the same fashion. And just like the Romans of the ancient empire, Americans have no clue this is happening.

The decline has already begun and the signs are everywhere. Not only are we lazy and jaded, but look around at your fellow Americans. They are spoiled, pompous, ignorant, and obese. They demand immediate gratification. Their spending is outpacing their savings. Most speak only one language. They have lost the famous Protestant work ethic. The gap between rich and poor is widening. They are easily manipulated by the press and propaganda.

Our infrastructure is in decay and there is no public will or funding to make repairs. Our population continues to rise. Fuel prices are rising. Jails are overcrowded. New Orleans is still a mess. Global warming threatens our way of life.

Meanwhile the politicians are talking about gay marriage and flag burning - 2 non-issues.

So the collapse has begun. China is predicted to eclipse us any day now. They already have in manufacturing. And India is not far behind. We also have competition rising on the other side of the Atlantic as the EU gains strength.

It is ridiculous to say the USA will never fall from power. History has shown that every great civilization has eventually fallen. With weak government in place, as is the one now, our country will fall due to its own weakness. Our arrogance that we will never fall is a contributing factor. To delay the inevitable though, we should take an interest in a country and be involved in politics. Vote!

Right now we are losing serious ground to China-and somewhat to Europe. We also make a lot of foreigners mad b/c we consume much more than our share of resources. Our current president's proficiency for spending money we don't have isn't helping anything. Things are not looking good, but we are still the top super power. If trends remain the same, I doubt that will be the case in 15 years.

greed... then power

when the republicans turn it into a place where 99 percent of the wealth is controlled by 1 percent of the population... gets a little closer every year...

then there will be a revolution.. which will effectively end the U.S. as we know it... and a socialist party... which will actually be a dictatorship will be put in place and everything will go to h*ll...

basically like Russia from 1900-1950

could be a few hundred years away...with better times and worse times between now and then...

I agree with Doc Holiday.
What is frightening to me, is the mass ignorance in our society about their own government. Ask the average American to name one Supreme court justice. Just one. Maybe 1 out of 4 could name just one, much less all 9. Ask them about the latest Hollywood pinhead, and they can tell you anything you want to know.
How many Americans Even know the three branches of government? (executive) ( Judicial), ( Legislative) How many could even name the amendments? Do Americans realize the judicial branch really has no right to legislate from the bench? They have done it many times, as illegal as it is. If a majority becomes so ignorant about their own government, how could they possibly recognize when they were being molested by a enemy. I realize that America has many intelligent people. But there is a sizable growing group of ignorant people. Hey, don't worry though. Worship the pin heads in Hollywood, Be impressed with fools. Believe the liberal news media when they spoon feed you what they want you to hear. And you people who are like this, are the (useful idiots )that Vladimir Lenin referred to when he had his Bolshevist revolution. Sadly, many are to stupid about history, to even know what I am talking about.

Nahhh .... the USA is not going to collapse.

We aren't like some small European country. Some of them are no bigger than our states or cities. We are a CONTINENT... with more natural resources than any other in the world, and such a varied group of people... we can do anything.

It's too bad the schools bought History books that failed to educate our children about how great this country IS !!!

Like all other empires in the past, Rome for example, the United States will slowly rot from within while pretending its total superiority and will become a has been.

When, I don't know. But it will happen when we are finally too lazy or jaded to keep our country going, when we no longer see ourselves as "Americans".
