With broadband you have a special modem and your connection is likely to be Always On. But with Dial Up you have to use your phone line and dial a number every time you want to use your Internet. Also with dial up unless you use a second phone line you can not use your phone during Internet sessions. But with broadband you get a splitter and can use the phone whether your using the phone or not. And also with dial up you don't get any faster than about 56kbps but with broadband you can start with 4 times faster and maybe get to very fast at about 10 times faster or more.

there are number of answers to define the difference between broadband and dail up connection. the first one is dailup will be had a minumum speed up to 56K, and the broad band is up to 2 MBpS, and most of the places braod band can connect without using telephone line, and and some times it can be connect with telephone line but the same time u can make calls with that same telephone line even u are using the internet, but where as in dailup u cant do phone calls while u are using the internet. how ever the braod band connection is 100 times faster than dailup.

I believe the price also makes a difference. If you are a heavy user broadband is cheaper compared to dial up.
