Back in 1983, I took the Alaska Ferry from Seattle, up to Haines, Alaska. From Haines, I took the A.Y.M.C. bus to Anchorage. The scenery was utterly spellbinding! The snow capped mountains, glaciers, moose, grizzly bears, eagles, are all sights never to be forgotten. If you've been there, you know what I mean. If not, don't miss the opportunity to see it.

Though I haven't been there--from what I have read and heard from those who have been there it is very picturesque and lovely. I would love the cold weather and 6 months of "night". Would be very excited to see moose up close and the other wildlife that is characteristic of that state.

I'm sure it's a beautiful place. But your polar bears need help. Their ice floes are melting. They're drowning because they're being forced to swim up to 60 miles across open sea to find food. I know it's not Alaska's fault. It's global warming. But it's sad. :(
