The IUD is about 99.8% effective in preventing pregnancy. I'd say that's pretty close to perfect. The only way you could become pregnant with it is if some freak accident happened, and yours became dislodged in the birth canal without you noticing, and then your partner didn't notice either while you were having intercourse. It's pretty impossible to get pregnant with the IUD, unless you have sex with it before the first two weeks of insertion, which you're not supposed to. In fact, I think more women should have them. Only about 1% of women who use birth control use the IUD.

YES. IUD's are only 98% effective. That means that over the course of a year, 2 out of 100 women using one will become pregnant - and that is if they use it 100% correctly, it was inserted properly and stayed put properly!

However, out of all the birthcontrols, IUD's are up there with being most effective, along with the pill - close to 99% effective (1 out of 100 women will get pregnant within a year), and condoms , 92% effective (but a lot of people make an error, making it more like 80% or less effective! People don't always put it on correctly, or it is a manufacturer defective one and it ruptures during sex!)

If you suspect you're pregnant, you must stop drinking, doing drugs, smoking, taking any over the counter medication or diet pills, and go to a doctor. See if you can go to the Health Department that your county or your state has set up in your area. Apply for Medicaid through your state's human services so you can afford health care if you are poor. Otherwise if you are well to do but do not want a child put it up for adoption. People pay so much money now it's almost indecent to be able to have a baby.

I Haven't gotten pregnant on an IUD but... My best-friend, sister-inlaw and sister have all gotten pregnant with IUD in place. My bestfriend felt pregnant so she went and got a blood test they removed the IUD when she was 6 weeks pregnant baby is now 14 months and fine. My sister in law found out 1 week after she had it removed that she was 5 weeks pregnant, baby is now 8 months old and fine. My sister found out when she was 7 weeks along that she was pregnant and miscarried then two months later was again pregnant and miscarried that baby too. They finally removed her IUD and will not place a new one. All these people just felt pregnant like when they normally get pregnant. So, I would contact a doctor if these feelings keep coming. Good luck!

Yes, and pregnancy with an IUD is a MAJOR medical crisis. You may have an ectopic pregnancy and you will need to the IUD removed. If you have a + test or suspect pregnancy or are in any pain, call the doctor NOW.

Just asked about an iud to my doctor today, cause im thinking of getting one. And she said its 99% affective, like always doctors will never say 100% because of law suits, but my doc prefers them over other birth control for long term things because of the less chances! Hope that helps.

The IUD is supposed to prevent pregnancy by irritating the uterine lining, and that prevents the fertilized egg from implanting. Instead, it just passes through.

Although I doubt it is 100% effective. Close though.

It's possible... but very dangerous. A baby cannot grow properly if you have an IUD in there.

When you can't get pregnant, and things look good from the outside, it can be extremely frustrating.
The first thing to consider is how long have you been trying. About 80% of couples will get pregnant after six months of trying, and about 90% will be pregnant after 12 months of trying to get pregnant. Anyway this is a great method to get pregnant fast:
