I am a conservative and am very angry with Republicans in Congress. They have spent money shamelessly over the last decade. They have been working on the flag burning amendment because they think they will appease their base and they are wrong on this one. A significant majority of this country supports marriage between 1 man and 1 woman. This needs to be dealt with. The various problems in Iraq, Iran, North Korea have been ignored by previous Presidents (Clinton, Bush 1, and Reagan). The illegal alien problem would be resolved if the Republicans in the Senate got their crap together and stopped pandering. Republicans will pay at the ballot box in November because their conservative base has had it.

Please... stop... using... the... dots... where... commas...would...do... or Captain Kirk will sue you for likeness rights.
No, congress is tackling these issues because they're popular with their constituency, not because they're actual problems. Promises of Gay Marriage Bans got the Republican's re-elected this time around and they know it. It's all political maneuvering to cover the fact that they don't know how to solve the rest of the problems (not that the dems do either).
To answer your first question, yes. In fact we've been actively engaged in military maneuvers against North Korea, Iran, and Iraq since the 60's. Deficits and illegal immigration have been around since the beginning (illegal immigration just wasn't considered a problem, maybe it still really isn't). All these things have been around for a while, and will continue for quite some time, until someone actually comes up with a viable solution that somehow a politician can sell to everybody.

At one time while Clinton (as you know a Democrat) was in office we knew where Bin Laden was. Clinton's response was to send a cruise missle at him. The missle missed. If Clinton responded more by sending in the military, we might not have to be in Iraq and September 11th might not have happened. If the Democrats weren't so concerned about getting laid (Kennedy, Clinton)while they are in office maybe things would get done.
As a soldier I think flag burning is an absolute disgrace. I'm happy that they addressed the problem but, I'm not happy with the result. I think congress both dems and reps did a big diservice to those that have and will serve. Men and women have died for the flag and what it represents. The founding fathers would be rolling over in their graves if they knew this was being done. You don't actually think that when they wrote that we have a right to freedom of speech and freedom of expression that they meant it was ok to burn the flag. I'm all for your right to disagree with the politics of the times but, don't include the flag. Some of us love our country enough to scarfice our lives for it. If you don't like the country move.

Okay ... here is an answer for you:
World War III began when the Terrorist decided to attack the US on September 11, 2001 and drag us into the border skirmish that has been going on in the Middle-East since 1948.
It has to be remembered that Israel was our main allies in the Middle East when the majority of Arab nations were sided with the Soviet Union. It also has to be remembered that the Soviets oppressed the Christians and the Jews, but gave Islam free reign. Also while the Arabs say they were there first, there has been a Jewish presence when Israel is not going back to antiquity, and while Rome did scatter the Jews, even after 73 C.E. there remained a Jewish presence there. The Arabs want to deny this, but it has been proved via archaeological findings. The Arabs are NOT innocent in this at all, they are not Victims at all. Jordan was created by the Arabs to prevent Palestine from being located there. All of this anti-Jews, and US nonsense is Arab propaganda.
It also has to be noted that we have never supported Israel with by putting our troops into their war. This is not the same for the Arabs. We have put our troops on the ground to keep them out of the fire.

They defiately need to reprioritize. The flag burning will continue as long as we have the screwed up foreign policy of policing the world and letting our own home slip.

The entire Congress should be retired. But not with a bunch of liberals that are as bad if not worse.

Actually, all of the issues you cite have been around since WW2. None of them have received enough attention in that time.
