Face reality...San Francisco isn't exactly a big "meat and potatoes" kinda town.
But... there are a couple of places that cater to the midwestern tourist crowd that are pretty good. One is Ruth's Chris on Van Ness, the other is Bob's in the Omni Hotel. There is also Harris's, a Morton's near Union Square, and Alberts in the FiDi, but I hear very mixed reviews on those places.
Now if you like continental or mediterranean style beefsteak dishes rather than just plain old American grilled steak, we could start a whole 'nother list of really excellent places....
