My girlfriends pc had an error that "previous shutdown was due to thermal temp" and I found out the cpu fan was broke. I just replaced it and turned it on and it take almost 15 min to boot to windows and is dead slow the entire time. I ordered a replacement cpu but should I be concerned about any other parts like ram or the mb?

The fan was just an exhaust for the cpu heatsink so I could only guess the only directly effected part was the cpu.

A CPU can definitely die when the fan fails but overheating CPU may cause other parts to fail also. When you get your new CPU I would try to start from scratch and build the system one component at a time. Start with the basic setup with M/B, RAM, Video, and HD and go from there and install additional hardware.

In most cases, a CPU going down will not effect many components in your system. A power supply going down, on the other hand, is a different story.

You are probably correct but if the new CPU does not fix the problem then I expect the heat buildup was strong enough to affect the RAM, HD, or sensitive circuits on the MB. Cross your fingers

The CPU was probably fried by the time you got that alarm. Replace the CPU and use "Arctic Silver" thermal grease when you reassemble it. This will also help to keep the CPU cooler.

It is possible that your CPU got overheated one too many times. If you pull out the processor and look by the pins for darkened spots or burn marks and if you have those you will probably need a new processor.

anybody is naive to think of that when the ninety's (or eighty's, or 70's or 60's), sturdy musicians unexpectedly grew to alter into non existent. genuine, a super majority of common rock song isn't all that great, this is boring, unoriginal and stressful, in case you go searching somewhat and don't place self assurance in MTV to tell you what to take heed to, you will locate some wonderful skills.

Computer Slow

Download and then run startup.exe (FREEWARE) at:

http://www.mlin.net/startupcpl.shtml......

Can't live without it and windows...

Then disable and/or uninstall whatever u don't need.

Other things to try:

1 - Disk Cleanup (removal of temp files, cookies, etc.)
2 - Defrag
3 - Registry Cleanup (CAN BE VERY RISKY!)

ALL ELSE FAILS - RELOAD YOUR O/S (WINDOWS) AND THEN REINSTALL ALL OTHER PROGRAMS YOU NEED/USE!
