I always have a bunch of books going at once. Right now it's The Long Way Round by Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman, Mama Makes Up Her Mind (short stories by Bailey White), The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, a book about the architect John Lautner, Dumping BIlly by Oliva Goldsmith, and The Path to Tranquility by the Dalai Lama.

I read a book a day...so while the books on my bedside table may change often...there are a few books I can recommend reading.
Stephenie Meyer's book Twilight is an incredible book. Definitely what I would consider "can't-put-down" it is over 500 pages long (I love reading long books) yet it was so good I had to read it in one sitting. The sequel, New Moon, is out in September. So it would be a great time to start that series.
Here's my review of Twilight (and New Moon)

Got some good stuff for you. Lamp w/dusty shade. Dead bugs of summer at the base covered in dust. Picture of my honey from 1971. Drawings a grandchild puts there nearly every day. A Timex alarm clock that sometimes works because it gets knocked to the floor so much. Assorted pencils, paper clips, rubber bands surround the Bible and Yellow Pages. Snoopy for President, a 2005 commemorative baseball from Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

Short Stories of Mark Twain (a treasure) and Infamous Scribblers, a delightfully written history of American journalism by Eric Burns. And I always keep The Oxford Book Of English Verse there.
