Here are some other ways to search for someone:
1) Do a white pages search on the name, and call any and all names that come up, tell them you are doing genealogy research, and did they ever live in such and such place (where ever s/he lived at some time). If the answer is no, go on to the next name. If the answer is yes, ask a few other leading questions.
2) If you know where he was at a certain period of time, or where s/he came from, you can go back to high school yearbooks, property records, etc, and compile as much info as you can.
3) You can call people with the same last name who live in or around areas s/he has lived and again saying you are doing genealogy research, ask if s/he is a relative, and go from there with whatever info you get.
4) Pay one of the people search websites to get all the info you can in one place ... it may be worth the cost ... they have access to places easier than you do because that is what they do. Make sure it is a reputable one.
5) Post on various genealogy and people-search forums, and someone/s may offer to help you with your search.

Go to or call your local department of human services for locating individuals. It is the government and they should have records of everyone all over. Make sure you know his birth-date, place of birth, any descriptions that could assist the contact and your name and individual. Make sure your record is clear of any violations( you don't want to go looking for someone and get locked up or a fine). If your name is on the birth records go to the court house and get a copy. Good luck.

If you are paying child support you can get the address from the courts. If she left and did not leave an address of where you can find them she is in contempt of court - contact the court in which the divorce or custody paperwork was filed and see if they can help.

Have you tried Missing Persons??? There are so many agencies that offer help. If you have an old income tax return with your ex-wife's social security number she should be easy to find!
Good Luck!

I'm not sure this is a good question to answer. My question to you would be why did he disappear? Was there abuse involved?
Parents don't just take there kids and run. I think you are not telling the whole story.

have an attorney locate your kid thru the school board or social services case worker can locate your kid. if your paying child support, stop and they will contact you. refuse to pay til you see your kid again. tell'em you have reason to believe your child is deceased. that'll shake them into doing something. lots of current info will come out of the woodwork. if you have visitation rights your ex may be arrested for keeping him from you.

Sorry I can't help, and sorry to hear you can't find him. Can't the authorities help? Tried calling the different schools to see if he goes there?
