We can't. It doesn't matter. Those who believe will believe. Those who don't, won't. Surety isn't important.

Well, Christians themselves argue about it. Thomas Aquinas thought that the existence of God could be proven logically. Martin Luther thought that trying to prove the existence of God logically is a waste of time because God wants people to believe in Him (perhaps, even despite the evidence to the contrary), rather than know for sure that He exists.

I have had so many experiences where only devine intervention could solve the problem and it apparently did. I was born with a terminal illness with no cure. Lots of prayers and some xray treatment and it disappeared! Oh yes, and at 18 months I stopped breathing and saw the tunnel! I am now 59 and thriving! I believe.

If you could know beyond the shadow of a doubt, then immediately you lose your free will. So the existence of that doubt is deliberate, for your own good. But that's not to say that there aren't a myriad of convincing arguments towards the existence of God.

You can't. Its called "faith", because you have to believe that there is a God first before he proves to you he's there. Once you believe, however, his presence become evident all around you. If you never have faith and only "think", then you are your own God and when you die, you are really on your own.

How about the story of doubting Thomas, one of Jesus' disciples. When Jesus arose and appeared before the disicples, Thomas had stated he wouldn't believe until he touched the nail scared hands and the pierced side. After Jesus allowed this, he said to Thomas, you believe because you have seen, but blessed is he that see's not yet still believes.

Because, in your darkest hour, in a foxhole, as shells explode close by, and you become deafened by the roar, fearful of the instant separation from your body if one would hit you, while trembling in fear,
a voice will open in your head and calm you.

That was God. He believes in you.

How can we be sure there isn't?

Those people who live their lives like there is no god had better hope they're right.

We can't and there is no evidence that would point to one. Only believing and faith can mislead anyone into accepting the concept.
And a lot of people like to fool themselves with that....
