can anyone tell me the name of it the one where he is stranded with loads of mail...and the name he gave his ball please..it has been bugging me all night...

Cast away - wilson is his only friend, and he loses him. this must be truly heartbreaking. i cried so much when i first watched it and i found myself really attached to the character. great film.

The ball kept him company and from going completely and irrevocably insane on the film Cast Away. Tom Hanks named the volleyball Wilson after his bloody handprint made an impression of a face on the ball as he through it. Chuck Nolan (Hanks) works for FedEx and his cargo plane goes down, leaving him stranded on a deserted island...pointless trivia, Hanks lost something like 60-90 lbs. filming this role.

Castawy. Truly awful. He lost a tonne of weight and grew an enourmous beard to star in it. On bad days at work, my friend say she is having a 'Tom Hanks day' ie she feels like she is on Castaway and only able to communicate to Wisdom ( basketball Tom makes pals with on the Island ).

CAST AWAY and WIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLSSSSSOONNNNNN! Was the Name of the ball and it seemed apparent that he missed Wilson worse than he missed his Fiance :-s Great Movie :-)
Dale Ernhardt Jr Also had Couple of races that His Pit Crew put a "Wilson" in his car after he complained of being Lonely while out in the race car during a long race :-)
