the big bang (someone really needs to change that name) is the name given a theory that attempts to describe the very earliest universe. it is well supported by observation.
the universe seems to have originated about 13 700 000 000 years ago and was much smaller and denser than it is today. space-time also seems to have originated in the big bang so the big bang was the whole universe and everywhere in the universe was once the big bang. nothing, not even space-time, exists "outside" the universe. to quote a dead writer, "there is no there, there".

It was the funniest American movie of 1937, starring Mae West and Herbert Bonaventure. The plot line goes something like this:
A business woman wants to start a bordello, in the center of Boston. She is put down 9 ways to Sunday by the pius old biddies in Bean Town, but a historian discovers that Boston had been founded by and with prostitutes away back when, and then the idea became overwhelmingly popular. The name of the joint they opened was called the Big Bang. Available on VHS
Naw, justkidding. funny name for a whorehouse, though, isnt it?
can I have the 100 points for 'Originality'?

It's a scientific theory (theory meaning 'what we consider is right, based on what we know today, bu that could change') that tries to explain the birth of our universe. The Big Bang Theory states that all matter in the universe was compressed into one tiny little infintesimally small, and at some point, we had "The Big Bang" resulting in the little dot expanding. "The Big Crunch" is the theory the universe will revert back to the dot at the end of it's cycle.

A careful look at the universe shows us that it is expanding. Extrapolating backwards from today's situation, scientists conclude that 15 billion years or so ago, the universe was incredibly small and incredibly dense - it expanded rapidly in what is known as the 'big bang', slowly cooling and condensing into familiar matter and forming stars, planets and galaxies. The discovery of the microwave background radiation lends support to this theory (as the 'heat' left over from the 'bang'). As to the origin of the incredibly small, incredibly dense universe - Well, no-one knows.

Ignore any idiots on the site, personally you should report abuse for stuff like that. Anyway, if you're talking about the "Big Bang Theory" It's one of many theories of how the universe was created. According to it, a huge supernova was created in the galexy, and billions of peices of a once huge star created the nine planets and the asteroid belt. It's the theory that most claim is the most accurate, there are others, including the religious one that God created everything, but that's the one that scientist's find most realistic.

The big bang is a theory created by the scientists who were curious to know how our universe was formed. And the big bang just means that the universe was made by a big explosion.

The current frontrunning theory in the scientific community regarding the creation of the universe.
Essentially we started with an incredibly large amount of mass (everything in the known universe) packed into an inconceivably small amount of space. Things went "boom" (the big bang) and started expanding outward from this point.

A cosmological theory holding that the universe originated approximately 20 billion years ago from the violent explosion of a very small agglomeration of matter of extremely high density and temperature. The universe at this point had extremely high temperatures, eventually after millions and millions of years of gradually cooling and expanding, the universe became what it is now. The universe is stilll expanding.

it is the isobaric explosion of detrites and magnetic atraction caused by colapse of very hot particles clashing with radioactive plutonium and magnesium, I believe it is a fission-implosion syndrom, which perhaps created time, perception of space due to oxigen and common sense withdrawn to ozone in atmosphere.
The term big bang might be origined by the resident clash onomatopey bringing multiple sounds and reverberances inside elements. Something outside elements might have formed, like heart beat of the whole universe and protoplasm fuel to movement and condensation of primal mind and purpose, perhaps a whole different consciousness, which might be termed adharma, or inner mind, according to multiple books and sources from all around the planet. All of this is to have origined manas, and as of before there might be sore desire from all of us, now if we believe calcium, desire is not attainable nor proper in this surrounding, so we need to analise differently laurentium particles to be aware of previous knowledge, this might be the reason for magnetism and phisics: enable cause, not necesarily provide mind of creator.
