Yes. Go to Pregnancy.org and talk to all the other people who've dealt with this. Also, if you try a search engine, you'll get the medical reasons behind it.

I totally craved ice during pregnancy too, would eat 3 or 4 big cups of it every day. Cravings for nonfoods, such as ice, are really common during pregnancy. It's medical name is "pica." Some anecdotal evidence shows that it's related to low iron. You might want to see how much iron you are getting in your diet, and if it's low, maybe an iron supplement will end the cravings. But hey, at least you're craving ice and not something awful like soap or gasoline!
Good luck and congrats on your baby :)

Ow my GOD! ALL I ate was ICE!! Pregnancy with both my kids, that's all I ate. I actually kept a bag from Heritage.in the fridge at all times. It was like an addiction almost, that's all I'd eat at time and I was always freezing from eating all the ice. The bad news is the reason we crave ice is because your probably anemic. Ask your doctor about it. You'll be surprised though how many women crave ice during pregnancy, even my mom used to scrape the inside of her freezer, the old fashion kind with the frost!! Well I eventually stopped eating soo much ice. You get through it...

Generally, it is normal for a woman to have some cravings during pregnancy. I have heard of several people craving ice, and let me tell you what I think. One, I think most who are pregnant like the cooling effect. Two, I think it is easier to eat ice than drink if you are thirsty, as some women get heartburn even with drinks because of the compression of their organs by baby. Three, it is the perfect snack as it satisfies your need to crunch, has no calories, and it is eaten slowly. There is another explanation, which is termed PICA. Women may crave foods or even non-food things if they are deficient in a particular mineral or vitamin. I knew one woman who ate corn starch by the spoonful! Some women even eat dirt, or charcoal! This is an extreme, and is very rare! This condition is not widely known or researched. It sounds like you have a healthy craving. Good luck and congratulations! :)

yeah, That's what I craved with my first child...its the coolness that I craved more I think. During summer its hot and dry or even humid, taking more of the electrolites out of you, so you desire something COLD and WET and the most satisfying is ICE. Even now I crave ice. I want ice in everything that I drink. Could be worse...could be craving pickles and cheese and peanut butter and chocolate. YUK. My little sister craved all that at once. My oldest sister craved lemons. With my second alls I wanted was tortilla chips and ice. Its a very healthy and cool craving. DON'T THINK BAD ABOUT IT...ITS THE BEST.

There is a condition called Pica that can make you crave things like ice. Pica will even cause people to eat things like paint chips. They think it might be caused because your body is lacking certain nutrients, which is certainly a possibility in pregnancy. So ask your Dr. on your next visit. I'm not saying you have this, it could just be that you are really hot and thirsty, carrying a baby can elevate your temp. Plus I'm not sure where you're at, but it's really hot right now in a lot of places. Good Luck with your upcoming birth, you are about to meet your lilttle one, how exciting!

I have four girls and with the first three I could not stop eating ice. My ice maker couldn't keep up with my cravings so I started buying bags of ice. It's perfectly normal and not a bad way to keep cool in the summertime.
