Which one is better and Why?

I've been to both, and Chichen Itza should definately be your choice. There is a lot more to see, the ruins are more interesting, there is a cenote and the services are better.

One important tip: there are several locals inside Chichen selling cheap stone sculptures. If you plan to buy one, do it in the end of your visit. I bought it in the beggining and had to carry a 10 pound sculpture in a plastic bag for hours.

If you like ruins and have spare time, Coba should be your third option (after Chichen and Tulum).

Both are different. Chichen Itza is a mayor arqueological site, Coba is smaller. I personally prefer Chichen Itza because you can smell the power of the place, the cenotes are amazing water bodies where you can witness the presence of a marvelous culture.

You should visit both, either way, you win!

Chichin Itza is huge and could take all day to explore and see. I never even heard of Coba.
