It isn't just as hot here, it is as hot as hell. This year our highest high was 118*F. Why would you want to get away from the "heat" to travel all the way to HELL?

I'm from Wisconsin too and I've also been to Arizona. The big difference between heat in Wisconsin and Arizona is the humidity. 110 in Arizona feels like about 90 in Wisconsin.

Actually it has gotten up to 122 here in Phoenix.
It's a dry heat most of the year, but during the monsoons it is a humid, moist heat, just like the rest of the country. We get storms with real rain, hail. and the rain is wet. With the high temps, it feels hot and humid. We are usually in the monsoons from July 7th to Sept 7th.. take or give a few days.

Wait for me! I'm coming with!

At least it'd be a dry heat in Arizona. We've got this really humid 95, and some counties have announced a state of emergency for farmers. If it doesn't rain soon, we're gonna hafta start buying Nebraska's hay for livestock. In my hometown, we've had two inches of rain in the last two months.

Heh, Tucson has hardly gotten above 80 the last four days...though we have had almost 5 inches of rain. Humid as hell though.

I love how the news tells you about every instance of extreme weather but never tell you about all the places that are normal or below normal. No wonder people get such a skewed perception of climate.
