are you on any medications? there are several meds that can cause an increase in heart rate (such as over the counter nasal decongestants or decongestants found in prescription drugs), if this isn't the cause, it's very possible that your rate was high BECAUSE you were at the doctor's office. Heart rate increases when we're scared or anxious, and if you were feeling any of that while they were checking you, it's possible that caused the high rate. Also - if they didn't get you adequate time to rest before checking it - that can cause it as well.
what i would suggest doing is to take your own resting heart rate several times during the day and see if you're still above normal (to do this, find your pulse in your wrist and count the beats for 30 seconds and take that value times two (or count it for a full 60 seconds and that's your number). If it's still a little on the high side, I'd also look at my caffeine intake and any other outside factors (such as smoking, stress, anxiety) before I got worried. There's so many things that can affect your heart rate. If you still feel it's higher than it should be and have ruled out all other causes, talk to your dr. about it.

Try chilling out. Is that your resting pulse or after you've run for a minute or something? that will make a difference. If that is your naturally resting pulse, then it could be genetic. Ask your parents/grandparents about heart health in the family if it seems to be a problem for you! Bye!

That happened to me. Being overweight can be a factor, as it's more stress for your heart. But it could just be nerves - everyone gets nervous in the doctor's office! If you tend to be a nervous person, that could factor in. Try some deep breaths and concentrating on a peaceful scene.
