Why do adult men salute their gigglesticks each and every evening? because of the fact it feels good! No, kidding... while i glance on the yank Flag i do no longer think of roughly the place it got here from, all 50 states, founding forefathers, or how lots i think of Bush is messing up, blah blah blah... Coming from a protection rigidity family individuals, i think of roughly ancestors, and the different adult men and females who died for what this united states stands for... Freedom against the nazis and commies' and good dental hygiene! The flag can characterize countless issues for various human beings. that's why some human beings prefer to no longer salute it, throw it in a bathroom and burn it. that's their prerogative, i do no longer in all probability provide a crap. If "Mooby the Golden Calf" exchange into the international locations' image of delight and cohesion, i'm specific we would all be saluting a huge golden cow good now, yet i assume the united kingdom concept a flag could be extra setting up...

It's about what the flag symbolizes and represents, but clearly from your questions you are far too ignorant to understand that.
Actually our flag was based on the British flag, which makes sense since we were a British colony until we proclaimed our Independence. Plus, the British East India Company flag had the Union Jack on it after 1801--their flags never had the Stars and Stripes on it.

Because American's have this weird thing about being patriotic. They act like the flag is some holy thing because it represents they're country and so they have to do everything they can to honor it.
I'm not trying to be anti-American (since I am American...), I just agree that people go a little overboard. Just saying that so people don't go yelling at me for being rude.
I never heard about that East India Company thing though, I'll have to look that up.

Despite what you read or was told - the history of the American Flag is as the history books state. As for the Invention of a Flag - whatever.
The current stars and stripes represented the colonies to start with and explanded with every state.

To you it may just be a piece of material. But to US it symbolizes our country. Its the spirit of it also. It reminds us that there was people that had to die to give us the freedom that we have today. That flag was in every battle that gave us our freedom. It's the best country in the world!!!! That is why everybody wants to come here from all the other country's.

Why waste your time even wondering--if it's "just" a piece of material. It's not like you can change anthing about it. Don't get your undies in a wod. ...And saluting the flag is way to show our respect for the freedom of our country.

The flag represents everything that we stand for as americans. who cares where it came from, it's ours now, and we'll salute it as long as we have the freedom to do so. As long as there are brave men and women who are willing to die for what the flags represents, we will salute it. It's who we are, and when people who want to hurt our way of life see those colors in the wind, they know they are going to get their butts whooped.
