It is inevitable, look at the Roman Empire, British Empire...it's just a mater of time. With a totally unnecessary war in Iraq costing us billions of dollars as well as respect, our addiction to fossil fuel and a foreign policy that is virtually non-existent, I think you may be correct.

Hello?!! This is the end. We have nukes today. Americans won't just say, OK. Take us over. Kill everyone in the country and let the next superpower emerge. If US goes down they'll take the world with it. Nuclear disarment would have to occur via the enemy, including secret locations, or have an anti nuclear defense. Since I can't imagine how I won't. But theoretically they can be defended and unlikely to happen under US's nose without going into nuclear war or more modern missiles, so so much for that. Unlike the past it isn't just numbers. If countries developed more ships than England then the British Empire would be able to lose. Now, you could lose but destroy the world at the same time!

Not American's, but the US Government feels invincible. After the fall of the Soviet Union, no other Super Power remained. Currently, there is no Country on Earth with the Military power of the US. How can that not make us arrogant? Even economically, no one is close. The State of California has a bigger economy than France, and the State alone is the 5th Biggest Economy in the world. Unless the EU Put their differences aside and work as ONE nation, they will only come close to challenging the US. But besides them, there are no other challengers. Sweet Dreams.........

Oh no, I am so worried. So lets see, we ring up debt that and then what? How does that stop us from being invincible? Are you going to demand we pay you back? Bite me! What if we say no? What are you going to do?

Besides its not another country or national debt that will bring down our nation, the only thing that has that power is liberalism.

I don't think there will ever be another superpower. You have to have the resources and money just like the U.S. USSR couldn't do that long term during the cold war. They just run out of money. It's all about the money.

in my opinion china will be the next superpower in the next few decades, its economy is growing like crazey and america is kinda left stricken behind. the bad thing is the fact that militery wise america is the biggest there will ever be, cant get bigger then that, but since its holding 2 ongoing wars maybe the us militery force will be weakend and give chance for japan, india or china to take power
