I have made some plans. A very nice hotel in a gay neighborhood, tickets to the art museum and choc covered strawberries in the room when we arrive. We are 40-ish and don't really like to got out drinking. Any ideas?

Something homemade is always sweet, a poem or love note hidden somewhere. The hot tub idea is nice or just a foot/body massage. Wear what she likes to see on you with her favorite scent you wear. A lite meal up in the room leaves time for sex play, without the burden of a heavy meal, or take her to a dress up affair restaurant with all the trimmings. Get the waiter to serve a gift with the desert. My partner of 25 years and I love to get a hotel room with a hot tub, give each other hot oil treatments on our hair, dine lite, and catch a movie, go to some historical site that interests us or just walk a beach. We plan on doing this in three more weekends and now I can hardly wait!

Do you have anything to commemorate this anniversary? An album you've put together with pictures of the two of you?

Maybe some kind of tangible gift.. jewelry or an item your SO desires.

How about a way to commemorate this event? You can usually find a student photographer to follow you around discreetly and take candid shots of the two of you enjoying yourselves for not too much.

What city did you choose? I don't like to go out drinking, but I've found that I DO like a late-night wander through a park with a bottle of wine and some small baguettes. Lots of talking and romance- just make sure it's not illegal in your city.

Are there any unique themed restaurants in the area that you normally wouldn't go to? My last anniversary, my husband and I actually went to see Cirque Du Soleil-Mystere, ate at a very interesting German restaurant, and stayed in a new hotel in which every room had a suite and kitchen and living room. (it actually wasn't expensive) I enjoyed the entire evening, but the most enjoyable was when we sat at the poolside when noone was there and talked. They had turned the lights out, so we brought our own candle and a couple of daquiris. Think about the small things that thrill her, and try to have a few of those rare but treasured things or gestures present in your weekend. One of the stupidest, but best things my husband does for me is go all the way across town to get me theater popcorn. In any case, you may be overthinking it. Don't try to cram too much into the evening or you won't have much time to sit and talk about how happy you are and what you mean to each other among other things. Oh....and don't forget that candle!
Happy Anniversary!

Well.. 40ish. Time for new ideas. The strawberry's are a "never fail" plan. That sounds fun. Make sure to get candles and play soft music. Be dressed up for you partner. Role playing is good. Rent a costume. What does your partner like? If your partner has ever told you a childhod memory like something they lost like a necklace or something. Something that's valuable to them. Look for it. A watch, teddy bear, something that if they saw again, would make their heart melt. I hope your partner is into art, so those tickets dont get waisted.
