okay, whenever i put on my foundation its a habit, i always ask my mom if it looks okay, and she says the rest looks good, but my foundation makes me look like i have a mask on, cuz i guess i dont even it out good enough. And im always afraid to try new colors bcuz the ones i use now, i know i look good in, but i donno about anything else, i use silver, pink, white, and light brown eye shadow, and when i use eye liner, it always smears or it doesnt look good, like i caked it on... So, any tips on how to make my makeup look better? School starts in 2 weeks and i dont wanna look like a clown! lol, Help plz

Well, to eliminate the "mask" look, you need a foundation that matches your complexion. I suggest going to a mall department store's cosmetics counter, they'll give you a consultation and makeover... for free. They'll gladly help you find the right colors and looks for you, because if you like the way you'll look, there's a better chance that you'll buy their products, lol. Always be sure to blend the foundation throughly near the jawline. Also, if your skin is fairly clear, you can buy a foundation stick to cover up blemishes - this looks more natural.
MAC and Clinique are good choices for younger people, but if you have a really difficult-to-match complexion, the Prescriptives counter offers custom-blended foundation (you can do a search on their website, prescriptives.com to find their nearest counter). Stay away from Fashion Fair!
To prevent mascara/liner from smudging, buy the waterproof kind, and always curl your lashes with an eyelash curler before and after applying mascara. Wiggle the eyelash wand from left to right when applying mascara to avoid caking, allow the first coat of mascara to dry before applying a second, and buy one of those eyelash comb/brow brush tools, that gets rid of the clumps. You can use liquid liner on the top lid, and a pencil liner on the bottom - that's been the most effective technique for me. Also, if black mascara looks too harsh on you, try lining only half of your lower lid, starting from the outer corner, and ending in the middle. Or better yet, you can use brown liner - it's more forgiving.

Try putting your foundation on with a makeup applicating sponge. You can get them at the drugstore for a few dollars a package. The reason why the makeup might look cakey is it may be the wrong color, or your putting too much on. Try using a tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation, it will look more natural but still give you color.

do you have oily skin? don't be afraid to try a new foundation. try to find a color that is similar to the one you use now. blend on your face & neck. Also, try using less eyeshadow.... the simpler, the better. Stick with a pink lid and a white highlight. For eyeliner, try using a liquid eyeliner. If you already use a liquid eyeliner, try using a normal one. If both of them look bad on you, use a loose powder eyeshadow applied with an anglebrush. If that doesn't work, skip the eyeliner and use mascara. If you curl your eyelashes, you won't even need eyeliner.... I hope this helped!!!

I think you show go to your local mall and find a nice makeup counter and have someone show you the correct way to apply make up. It's also a good way to keep up with the new stuff.

ALWAYS GO WITH COLORS THAT ACCENT YOUR SKIN TONE. IF YOUR FOUNDATION LOOKS CAKED ON THEN IT PROBABLY IS AND IF YOU NEED THAT MUCH IN CERTAIN AREAS USE A CONCEALER INSTEAD AND APPLY FOUNDATION AFTERWARDS. ALWAYS WASH OFF MAKEUP AT NIGHT AND START WITH A FRESH FACE IN THE MORNING.

That used to happen to me, until I did something crazy. I used toilet paper. To be more exact I folded it up and lightly wiped my face and it got off all the excess make-up. It works, trust me I've tried it.
